Key Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces meticulously for tiling by thoroughly cleaning, leveling, and applying necessary waterproofing membranes as specified.
- Measure and cut tiles with exceptional accuracy using both manual and power cutting tools, always striving to minimize material waste.
- Lay tiles in various patterns (e.g., straight, diagonal, herringbone) on floors and walls, ensuring precise alignment, consistent spacing, and perfect level.
- Mix and apply mortar, various adhesives, and grout correctly to ensure durable, long-lasting, and completely watertight installations.
- Install tiling in complex and challenging areas such as bathrooms, shower enclosures, and kitchens, paying close attention to intricate corners, edges, and precise fixture cut-outs.
- Inspect all finished work thoroughly for quality, ensuring smooth surfaces, uniform grout lines, and the absence of any imperfections.
- Clean and meticulously maintain all tools and equipment, ensuring an organized, tidy, and most importantly, safe work environment at all times.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, industry regulations, and local building codes throughout every phase of the project.
- Communicate effectively and proactively with project managers, other skilled trades, and clients to ensure project timelines and exact specifications are consistently met.
- Provide expert advice on tile selection, ongoing maintenance, and potential repair solutions to clients or project teams when required.
Required Skills
- Proven extensive experience as a Tiler, with a strong focus on floor and bathroom installations.
- Expertise in preparing diverse surfaces, including precise leveling, patching, and advanced waterproofing techniques.
- Proficiency in accurately measuring, skillfully cutting, and expertly laying various types of tiles (ceramic, porcelain, natural stone, mosaic, glass).
- Mastery in mortar and grout application techniques, including different types of grout.
- Ability to read and accurately interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and detailed construction plans.
- Strong, meticulous attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to delivering the highest quality craftsmanship.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for effectively addressing unforeseen on-site challenges.
- Demonstrated physical stamina, agility, and manual dexterity required for demanding construction tasks.
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction safety procedures, best practices, and relevant industry standards.
- Valid Jamaican driver's license preferred for independent transportation to various project sites.

- Formal vocational training or official certification in tiling, masonry, or a related trade.
- Demonstrated experience working successfully with large format tiles and executing intricate design patterns.
- Familiarity with specialized materials such as epoxy grouts, anti-fracture membranes, and advanced waterproofing systems.

- Proven ability to mentor or supervise junior tilers and apprentices, fostering their skill development.
