Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Transport Manager to join our dynamic logistics team in Bridge View, Portmore. This critical role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of our transport operations, including fleet management, route optimization, driver supervision, and ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of goods across Jamaica. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimize the daily operations of the company's vehicle fleet, ensuring efficient scheduling, dispatch, and delivery.
  • Develop and implement transport strategies and policies to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels.
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of all fleet vehicles, ensuring they are roadworthy, compliant with regulations, and minimize downtime.
  • Lead, train, and supervise a team of drivers and transport staff, fostering a culture of safety, professionalism, and high performance.
  • Monitor driver performance, fuel consumption, and vehicle utilization, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all local and national transportation laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Manage transport budgets, analyze expenditure, and identify opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements.
  • Utilize transport management systems (TMS) and other software to track shipments, manage routes, and provide real-time updates.
  • Collaborate with warehouse, sales, and supply chain departments to ensure seamless integration and timely product distribution.
  • Prepare regular reports on transport performance, key metrics, and operational challenges for senior management.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in transport or logistics management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrable experience managing a large fleet of commercial vehicles.
  • Strong understanding of transportation regulations, safety standards, and best practices in Jamaica.
  • Proficiency in Transport Management Systems (TMS) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent leadership, team management, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to optimize routes, manage budgets, and drive operational efficiencies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Valid General Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Certifications in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Fleet Management.
  • Experience with GPS tracking and telematics systems.
  • Knowledge of vehicle mechanics and maintenance schedules.
