Job Description
We are seeking highly skilled, experienced, and safety-conscious Pilots to join our growing flight operations team, based in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. As a Dana Air Pilot, you will be instrumental in ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely operation of our modern aircraft, adhering strictly to all regulatory standards set by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and international aviation bodies. This critical role demands exceptional professionalism, technical proficiency, and a steadfast commitment to passenger safety and comfort. You will be responsible for conducting meticulous pre-flight preparations, executing flights according to scheduled routes, and ensuring all post-flight procedures are meticulously followed. We are looking for individuals who demonstrate excellent decision-making capabilities under pressure, superior communication skills to coordinate effectively with Air Traffic Control and the flight deck crew, and a collaborative approach to teamwork within the flight deck and with ground operations. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate aircraft in accordance with company policies, standard operating procedures, and all Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations (NCARs).
- Conduct thorough pre-flight inspections, including comprehensive checks of aircraft systems, current weather conditions, flight plans, and fuel requirements.
- Maintain strict adherence to flight schedules and communicate effectively and professionally with Air Traffic Control, ground operations, and cabin crew.
- Ensure the utmost comfort and safety of all passengers and crew members during all phases of flight, from boarding to disembarkation.
- Collaborate effectively with the First Officer and Cabin Crew to ensure a coordinated, harmonious, and safe operational environment.
- Complete all necessary flight documentation, logs, and reports accurately, comprehensively, and promptly post-flight.
- Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate potential operational risks, and demonstrate adaptability to rapidly changing operational conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
- Stay current and proficient with all aviation regulations, company manuals, operational directives, and best practices within the aviation industry.
- Undergo all required recurrent training, simulator checks, and line checks as mandated to maintain proficiency, licenses, and certifications.
- Represent Dana Air with the highest level of professionalism, integrity, and customer-centric service both on and off duty.
Required Skills
- Valid Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) or Commercial Pilot License (CPL) with ATPL theory credit.
- Valid Class 1 Medical Certificate.
- Minimum of 1,500 total flight hours for CPL holders, or 3,000 total flight hours for ATPL holders, with significant multi-engine jet experience.
- Proficiency in English (ICAO Level 4 or higher).
- Excellent understanding of aviation regulations, meteorology, aircraft systems, and air navigation.
- Strong decision-making skills under pressure and ability to maintain composure in critical, high-stress situations.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, fostering clear and effective collaboration.
- Demonstrated unwavering commitment to safety, adherence to protocols, and operational excellence.
- Type rating on relevant aircraft (e.g., MD-83 or similar Boeing/Airbus types) is a significant advantage.
Preferred Qualifications
- Type rating on Boeing 737 or similar aircraft types currently operated by Dana Air.
- Experience as a Captain or Senior First Officer on commercial passenger jet aircraft.
- Leadership experience within a flight operations environment, including mentoring or training roles.
- Familiarity with advanced EFIS (Electronic Flight Instrument System) and modern cockpit automation systems.
- Additional aviation-related certifications or specialized training (e.g., ETOPS, RVSM).
