Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy-duty commercial vehicles, including articulated trucks, in a safe and efficient manner to transport goods to various locations across Jamaica, adhering to strict schedules.
- Load and unload cargo, ensuring proper securing and handling to prevent damage during transit, and verifying manifest accuracy with recipients.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, documenting any defects or maintenance needs promptly and accurately, reporting mechanical issues.
- Adhere strictly to all local traffic laws, regulations, and company safety policies and procedures, prioritizing road safety at all times.
- Plan and follow efficient routes, utilizing GPS and other navigation tools to ensure timely deliveries and minimize fuel consumption.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving activities, mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery records, submitting all documentation in a timely manner.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, warehouse staff, and customers regarding delivery schedules, potential delays, and any issues encountered on the road.
- Represent Wisynco Group Limited professionally at all times, maintaining a positive, courteous, and customer-focused attitude.
- Assist with general warehouse duties as required during periods of downtime, contributing to overall team productivity and operational flow.
- Ensure the cleanliness and proper maintenance of assigned vehicles, both interior and exterior, to uphold company standards.
Required Skills
- Valid General Driver's License (preferably Class 4 or 5 in Jamaica) with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience (minimum 2 years) operating heavy-duty commercial vehicles, including articulated trucks.
- Thorough knowledge of Jamaican traffic laws, road safety regulations, and defensive driving techniques.
- Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance checks and troubleshoot minor mechanical issues.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) as required for loading/unloading.
- Excellent time management, organizational, and route planning skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities, with a customer-focused approach.
- High level of responsibility, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent vocational training.
- Certification in Defensive Driving or advanced driver training.
- Experience with specialized transport, such as refrigerated goods or fragile items.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route optimization software.
- Previous experience in a similar distribution or logistics role within the FMCG sector.
- Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to changing road conditions or delivery schedules.
