Your work will span both our vibrant showroom floor, ensuring display items are flawless, and our customer returns/exchanges department, where you’ll bring items back to IKEA’s high standards. Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, clean, repair, and maintain display furniture and products in the showroom to ensure optimal presentation and functionality.
- Handle and process returned or damaged furniture items, determining their condition and suitability for re-sale, repair, or disposal.
- Perform minor repairs, touch-ups, and assembly adjustments on furniture as needed, using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Organize and maintain the furniture care workshop or designated area, ensuring a clean, safe, and efficient workspace.
- Collaborate with sales staff and visual merchandisers to ensure furniture displays are consistently attractive and well-maintained.
- Assist customers with basic furniture care advice and product information when required.
- Contribute to a positive team environment by actively participating in daily tasks and supporting colleagues.
- Adhere strictly to all company policies, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
- Document and report any significant product damage or quality issues to management for further action.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to product quality and customer satisfaction.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (6+ months) in furniture assembly, repair, maintenance, or a similar hands-on role, preferably in a retail setting.
- Basic knowledge of furniture materials, construction, and common repair techniques.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift and move heavy furniture items regularly.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as per retail operational needs.
- A strong sense of responsibility and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working for IKEA or another large-scale retail furniture company.
- Formal training or certification in carpentry, furniture repair, or a related field.
- Fluency in Swedish, in addition to English.
- Experience with inventory management systems or basic computer skills.
