This is a critical role responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe handling of aircraft, passengers, and baggage on the ground. Key Responsibilities
- Assist passengers with baggage handling, check-in, and boarding procedures.
- Load and unload passenger luggage and cargo from aircraft, adhering to safety guidelines.
- Guide aircraft to and from parking stands using appropriate hand signals and communication.
- Operate various ground support equipment safely and efficiently (e.g., baggage carts, pushback tractors).
- Perform routine aircraft exterior cleaning and cabin tidiness checks between flights.
- Conduct pre-flight and post-flight checks of the tarmac and surrounding areas for debris.
- Ensure strict adherence to all aviation safety regulations, company policies, and security procedures.
- Provide clear and helpful information to passengers, resolving inquiries or directing them to appropriate departments.
- Collaborate effectively with pilots, cabin crew, air traffic control, and other ground personnel.
- Report any anomalies, safety hazards, or equipment malfunctions promptly.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent (SSCE/GCE/NECO).
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a customer service or physically demanding role.
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented and fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and security protocols.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in the aviation industry or a similar ground operations role.
- First Aid and basic emergency response training.
- Proficiency in additional Nigerian languages.
- Valid driver's license with experience operating heavy equipment.
