Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting assistance.
- Assist with mobility and transfers, using appropriate equipment and techniques.
- Administer medication reminders as per care plan and client needs.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding, ensuring dietary restrictions are met.
- Perform light housekeeping duties, including laundry, tidying, and maintaining a clean and safe living environment.
- Provide companionship, engage clients in meaningful activities, and offer emotional support.
- Monitor and document changes in client health, behaviour, and overall well-being, reporting concerns to the care coordinator.
- Assist with errands, appointments, and grocery shopping as needed.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of care provided and any observations.
- Adhere strictly to all company policies, procedures, and health and safety guidelines.
- Collaborate effectively with the care team, clients, and their families to ensure integrated and holistic care.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of verifiable experience as a Home Care Aide, Personal Support Worker, or similar role.
- Valid CPR and First Aid certification.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient demeanour.
- Ability to perform duties independently and responsibly.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
- Ability to lift and transfer clients safely and comfortably.
- Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain client confidentiality.
- Clear criminal record check and vulnerable sector check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized Personal Support Worker (PSW), Health Care Aide (HCA), or equivalent certification/diploma.
- Experience working with clients with various conditions, including dementia, Alzheimer's, or mobility impairments.
- Knowledge of local community resources for seniors.
- Experience with advanced care procedures (e.g., wound care, catheter care) if certified.
