Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled IT Technician with a strong focus on hardware and networking to join our dynamic team at Start-Innovation Hub. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our IT infrastructure, which supports a diverse community of startups, developers, and tech professionals. As an IT Technician, you will be the first point of contact for all technical support issues, providing essential hands-on assistance and remote troubleshooting. You will be instrumental in maintaining, repairing, and upgrading our computer systems, servers, peripherals, and network devices.
Your day-to-day will involve diagnosing and resolving hardware malfunctions, configuring network equipment, managing user accounts, and implementing security best practices. You will play a vital role in setting up new workstations, installing software, and ensuring reliable internet connectivity for all users within the hub. Key Responsibilities
- Provide first-level technical support for hardware, software, and network-related issues, both on-site and remotely.
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot computer hardware (desktops, laptops, printers, scanners) and software applications.
- Set up, configure, and manage network devices including routers, switches, access points, and firewalls.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues to ensure high availability and optimal speed.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as system updates, backups, and security checks.
- Assist in the deployment and management of user accounts, permissions, and email services.
- Document IT procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps for knowledge base expansion.
- Educate users on basic IT security practices and proper use of IT resources.
- Manage inventory of IT assets and procure new equipment as needed.
- Collaborate with other team members to implement new technologies and improve existing IT systems.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing computer hardware components.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and network protocols.
- Experience with operating systems, particularly Windows and Linux environments.
- Ability to configure and troubleshoot Wi-Fi networks and other wireless technologies.
- Familiarity with network cabling, patching, and infrastructure.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for user support.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of IT security principles and practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or HND in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, or CCNA.
- Experience with server hardware and virtualization technologies.
- Prior experience in an IT support role within a tech hub or similar dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus.
