Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dentist – Oral Care professional to join our team in Lisala, Mongala Province. This vital role will involve providing comprehensive dental care to patients, with a strong emphasis on preventive oral health education and community outreach in underserved areas. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing and treating oral diseases, performing dental procedures, and promoting overall oral hygiene within the community. Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive dental examinations, diagnoses, and treatment plans for patients of all ages.
- Perform a wide range of dental procedures, including restorations, extractions, root canal therapy, and prosthetic treatments.
- Educate patients and community members on proper oral hygiene techniques, dietary habits, and preventive care measures.
- Develop and implement oral health awareness programs in collaboration with local health teams.
- Manage dental emergencies and provide immediate relief for acute pain and infections.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including medical history, treatment provided, and follow-up plans.
- Adhere to strict sterilization and infection control protocols in line with national and international standards.
- Collaborate with medical staff to ensure integrated patient care, especially for patients with systemic health conditions impacting oral health.
- Participate in regular professional development activities and team meetings.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of dental services and public health initiatives within the region.
- Supervise and mentor dental assistants or other support staff as needed.
Required Skills
- Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited institution.
- Valid professional license to practice dentistry in the Democratic Republic of Congo or equivalent international qualification recognized by the local authorities.
- Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification clinical experience in general dentistry.
- Proficiency in French (oral and written) is mandatory; knowledge of Lingala is a significant asset.
- Strong clinical diagnostic and treatment planning skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse patient populations.
- Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a public health setting or with non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
- Prior experience in rural or underserved areas, particularly in developing countries.
- Additional training or certification in public health, periodontics, or endodontics.
