Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dentist – Oral Care professional to join our team in Lisala, Mongala Province. This vital role will involve providing comprehensive dental care to patients, with a strong emphasis on preventive oral health education and community outreach in underserved areas. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive dental examinations, diagnoses, and treatment plans for patients of all ages.
  • Perform a wide range of dental procedures, including restorations, extractions, root canal therapy, and prosthetic treatments.
  • Educate patients and community members on proper oral hygiene techniques, dietary habits, and preventive care measures.
  • Develop and implement oral health awareness programs in collaboration with local health teams.
  • Manage dental emergencies and provide immediate relief for acute pain and infections.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including medical history, treatment provided, and follow-up plans.
  • Adhere to strict sterilization and infection control protocols in line with national and international standards.
  • Collaborate with medical staff to ensure integrated patient care, especially for patients with systemic health conditions impacting oral health.
  • Participate in regular professional development activities and team meetings.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of dental services and public health initiatives within the region.
  • Supervise and mentor dental assistants or other support staff as needed.

Required Skills

  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Valid professional license to practice dentistry in the Democratic Republic of Congo or equivalent international qualification recognized by the local authorities.
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification clinical experience in general dentistry.
  • Proficiency in French (oral and written) is mandatory; knowledge of Lingala is a significant asset.
  • Strong clinical diagnostic and treatment planning skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse patient populations.
  • Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a public health setting or with non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
  • Prior experience in rural or underserved areas, particularly in developing countries.
  • Additional training or certification in public health, periodontics, or endodontics.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
