Job Description
We are actively seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Electrical Engineer specializing in Power and Maintenance to join our dynamic team in Uyo. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring the uninterrupted operation and optimal performance of all electrical power systems and equipment across our various projects and facilities. This includes overseeing the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical infrastructure, from generators and transformers to control panels and distribution networks. You will be instrumental in developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs, conducting thorough inspections, and swiftly resolving any electrical malfunctions to minimize downtime and enhance operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities
- Design, install, inspect, and maintain electrical systems and components, including power generation, transmission, and distribution equipment.
- Conduct regular preventative maintenance on electrical infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and extend equipment lifespan.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical faults and malfunctions, implementing timely and effective repair solutions.
- Ensure strict adherence to national and international electrical codes, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Develop and maintain detailed electrical documentation, schematics, and maintenance records.
- Supervise junior electrical technicians and contractors, providing technical guidance and quality assurance.
- Collaborate with project managers and other engineering disciplines to integrate electrical systems into overall project designs.
- Evaluate electrical systems, components, and applications by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of electricity and materials.
- Recommend modifications and upgrades to existing electrical systems to improve efficiency, reliability, and safety.
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, and cost estimates for electrical projects and maintenance activities.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of 4 years of proven experience in electrical power systems and maintenance, preferably in the construction or industrial sector.
- Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards (e.g., NFPA 70, IEEE), and safety protocols.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and diagnostic techniques for electrical faults.
- Experience with power generation, distribution, control systems, and industrial automation.
- Competency in using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical) for electrical design and documentation.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Registration with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) or equivalent professional body.
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience with PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems.
- Project management experience or certification (e.g., PMP).
- Familiarity with renewable energy systems (solar, wind) integration.
