Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and assist them with product inquiries, locating items, and providing recommendations.
- Operate point-of-sale (POS) systems, process transactions accurately, and handle cash, debit/credit card payments, and returns.
- Restock shelves, arrange products attractively, and ensure merchandise is properly priced and displayed according to store standards.
- Monitor inventory levels, report low stock items, and assist with receiving and unpacking deliveries.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shopping environment, including sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing designated areas.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures of the store, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently.
- Handle customer complaints and feedback professionally, escalating issues to management when necessary.
- Learn about new products and promotions to effectively inform and upsell to customers.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations.
Required Skills
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Strong verbal communication abilities in English.
- Basic mathematical skills for handling transactions and counting change.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- High level of integrity and trustworthiness.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights (up to 20kg).
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of SSCE/WAEC or equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience (6+ months) in a retail, supermarket, or customer service role.
- Familiarity with POS systems and inventory management basics.
- Ability to speak local languages (e.g., Ibibio) is an added advantage.
