Job Description
Chevron Nigeria Limited is actively seeking highly skilled and safety-conscious Field Operators to strengthen our operational team in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and control facility processes, including wellheads, separators, compressors, and pumps, to ensure optimal production rates and process stability.
- Perform routine checks, inspections, and preventative maintenance on equipment to identify and address potential issues before they escalate.
- Collect samples and conduct basic field tests to monitor product quality, chemical treatment effectiveness, and process parameters.
- Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, and operational upsets, implementing corrective actions according to established procedures and safety protocols.
- Ensure strict adherence to all Chevron's Health, Environment, and Safety (HES) policies and procedures, actively participating in safety meetings and drills.
- Record operational data, maintain accurate logs, and generate detailed reports on production volumes, equipment status, incidents, and maintenance activities.
- Collaborate effectively with maintenance, engineering, and other operational teams to troubleshoot problems, optimize facility performance, and implement process improvements.
- Participate in commissioning and decommissioning activities for new or modified equipment and facilities, ensuring smooth transitions.
- Conduct Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and issue work permits for maintenance and contractor activities, ensuring compliance and safety.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of oil and gas production processes, equipment, and flow assurance principles.
- Proficiency in operating and monitoring SCADA systems, Distributed Control Systems (DCS), and other control room interfaces.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail and process anomalies.
- Demonstrated unwavering commitment to safety, environmental regulations, and operational excellence.
- Ability to read and interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), process flow diagrams, and operational manuals.
- Basic mechanical and electrical aptitude for routine checks and minor maintenance tasks.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for reporting and team collaboration.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a diverse, team-oriented environment.
- Physical fitness and ability to work in various weather conditions and potentially remote field locations for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Higher National Diploma (HND) or Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
- Previous experience with Chevron or another major international oil and gas company.
- Certification in industrial safety or relevant technical training (e.g., NEBOSH, IWCF, OSHA 30-hour).
- Experience with SAP PM module or similar computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Familiarity with digital oilfield technologies and data analytics for operational optimization.
