Job Description
Eko Hotel & Suites is seeking a diligent and proactive Junior Security Operative to join our dedicated security team, specifically for night duty operations. This is an exceptional opportunity for an individual with a strong sense of responsibility, integrity, and a keen eye for detail to contribute to the safety and security of our prestigious hotel facility, guests, and staff during critical overnight hours. As a Junior Security Operative on night duty, you will be the vigilant presence ensuring a peaceful and secure environment while maintaining the high standards of hospitality Eko Hotel & Suites is renowned for. Your primary focus will be on monitoring premises, conducting regular patrols, responding to incidents, and generally upholding security protocols throughout the night. This role requires an individual who can work independently, exercise sound judgment under pressure, and maintain a professional demeanor at all times. You will be an integral part of our team, providing essential services that guarantee the comfort and safety of everyone within our property. This challenging yet rewarding position offers a chance to develop critical security skills in a dynamic, luxury hotel setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular and thorough patrols of the entire hotel premises, including guest areas, back-of-house, car parks, and perimeter, specifically during night shifts.
- Monitor CCTV cameras and other security systems, promptly reporting any suspicious activities or breaches.
- Control access points for staff, visitors, and vehicles, ensuring only authorized personnel enter restricted areas.
- Respond swiftly and effectively to alarms, emergencies, and security incidents (e.g., disturbances, medical emergencies, theft, fire outbreaks) in accordance with hotel protocols.
- Liaise with the senior security team, hotel management, and local law enforcement agencies when necessary.
- Complete detailed and accurate incident reports, daily logbooks, and shift summaries.
- Provide basic assistance to guests and staff, including directions and general information, while maintaining a professional and helpful attitude.
- Enforce hotel policies and procedures to ensure a safe and secure environment for all.
- Assist with crowd control and maintain order during late-night events or situations.
- Undertake any other duties as assigned by the Security Manager to ensure the safety and security of the hotel.
Required Skills
- Proven integrity and strong ethical conduct.
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team during night hours.
- Physical fitness and ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.
- Basic knowledge of security procedures and best practices.
- Ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure.
- Must be punctual and reliable, especially for night shifts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in security (e.g., corporate, residential, or hospitality) of at least 6 months to 1 year.
- Valid security training certifications (e.g., SSS, CSCS or similar).
- Basic First Aid and CPR certification.
- Minimum of SSCE/WASSCE/GCE O'Level qualification.
- Familiarity with CCTV operation and other security equipment.
