Are you a creative storyteller with a passion for transforming complex data into clear, compelling, and actionable visual narratives? ATB Financial is seeking a talented and innovative Remote Data Visualization Designer to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in bridging the gap between raw data and strategic decision-making. Working remotely from the vibrant community of Mill Woods, Edmonton, you will collaborate with various internal stakeholders, including data scientists, analysts, business leaders, and product teams, to understand their informational needs and design intuitive, impactful dashboards, reports, and interactive visualizations.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations using leading data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to communicate key business insights.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across various departments to gather requirements, understand business objectives, and translate complex data needs into effective visual solutions.
- Apply principles of information design, user experience (UX), and user interface (UI) to create intuitive, aesthetically pleasing, and highly functional data products.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across all visualizations and reports.
- Conduct user research and usability testing to gather feedback and iteratively refine visualization designs.
- Develop and maintain data visualization standards, best practices, and style guides to ensure consistency and quality.
- Provide expert guidance on visual best practices, data storytelling, and analytical interpretation to stakeholders.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and new tools in data visualization and business intelligence.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Data Visualization Designer, BI Developer, or similar role.
- Expert proficiency with at least one major data visualization tool (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Qlik Sense).
- Strong understanding of data storytelling and the ability to translate complex datasets into clear, actionable insights.
- Solid grasp of UX/UI principles, information design, and visual communication.
- Proficiency in SQL for data querying and manipulation.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate design choices and collaborate effectively with non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Graphic Design, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field.
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform).
- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
- Knowledge of scripting languages like Python or R for data analysis and visualization.
- Experience in the financial services industry.
- Certifications in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau Desktop Certified Associate).
