Job Description

Are you an enthusiastic and dedicated individual with a keen eye for detail and a passion for workplace safety? NLNG is seeking an Entry-Level Safety Officer to join our dynamic team in Uyo. This is an exceptional opportunity for a recent graduate or someone at the beginning of their career to step into the highly critical field of health, safety, and environment (HSE) within the robust oil and gas sector. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of the workplace to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and enforcement of safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and the preparation of detailed reports.
  • Support the delivery of safety training programs and awareness campaigns for employees and contractors.
  • Monitor the proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) by all personnel.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training activities.
  • Assist in emergency response planning and drills.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through continuous communication and engagement with staff.
  • Stay updated on relevant HSE regulations, industry best practices, and technological advancements in safety.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical and observational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to identify and assess potential risks and hazards.
  • Basic knowledge of occupational health and safety principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or HND in Environmental Science, Safety Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Relevant safety certifications (e.g., NEBOSH IGC, HSE Level 1, 2, or 3).
  • Basic understanding of relevant national and international safety standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001).
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Experience with safety management systems or software (even in an academic setting).
