Job Description

We are actively seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and detail-oriented Procurement Officer to join our dynamic team in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. This is an immediate hiring opportunity for a professional who can strategically manage and optimize our procurement processes for goods and services vital to our regional operations and administrative functions. As a Procurement Officer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient, ethical, and cost-effective acquisition of essential materials, equipment, and various services, directly impacting the success and continuity of our regional projects and daily activities. Your responsibilities will span the entire procurement lifecycle, from identifying reliable and compliant suppliers and conducting rigorous tendering processes to expertly negotiating favourable terms, managing complex vendor contracts, and ensuring timely and accurate delivery. Key Responsibilities

  • Execute end-to-end procurement activities, including strategic sourcing, competitive tendering, thorough evaluation, and precise contract finalization, in strict adherence to NLNG's procurement policies and procedures.
  • Proactively manage and nurture supplier relationships, conduct regular performance reviews, and ensure stringent adherence to agreed terms, conditions, and service level agreements.
  • Skillfully negotiate contracts with vendors to secure the most advantageous terms regarding quality, cost-efficiency, delivery schedules, and payment conditions.
  • Prepare, review, and process purchase orders and requisitions with utmost accuracy and completeness, ensuring all necessary approvals are obtained.
  • Monitor and rigorously track orders from placement to delivery, ensuring timely receipt of goods and services, and effectively resolving any supply issues, discrepancies, or delays.
  • Maintain comprehensive, organized, and auditable procurement records and documentation to ensure transparency and compliance.
  • Conduct in-depth market research to identify potential new suppliers, evaluate market trends, and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with internal stakeholders across various departments to understand their specific needs and ensure procurement efforts are perfectly aligned with business unit objectives.
  • Contribute actively to the continuous improvement of procurement processes, systems, and best practices within the organization.
  • Ensure absolute compliance with all relevant local and international regulatory requirements, company policies, and ethical standards in all procurement activities.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably in a corporate environment.
  • Demonstrable strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Proficiency in modern procurement software and advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Unquestionable high level of integrity, ethical conduct, and transparency.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as a vital part of a team.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with diverse stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of supply chain principles and logistics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Professional certification in Procurement (e.g., CIPS – Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply, or equivalent).
  • Direct experience working within the Oil & Gas, Energy, or large-scale industrial sector.
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, particularly SAP Ariba or similar procurement modules.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
