Job Description

We are actively seeking a highly motivated and experienced Laboratory Analyst to join our esteemed team in Uyo. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine and non-routine chemical and physical analyses on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using various laboratory techniques and instrumentation.
  • Perform calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability of results.
  • Accurately record, interpret, and report analytical data, ensuring compliance with relevant quality standards (e.g., ISO, ASTM) and company procedures.
  • Identify and investigate out-of-specification results, participating in root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
  • Strictly adhere to all Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) policies and procedures, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Prepare chemical reagents, solutions, and standards as required for analytical testing.
  • Collaborate effectively with production, engineering, and other departments to provide timely and accurate analytical support.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment within the laboratory.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as a Laboratory Analyst in an industrial setting, preferably in oil & gas, petrochemicals, or a related process industry.
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining standard laboratory equipment (e.g., GC, HPLC, Titrators, Spectrophotometers).
  • Strong understanding of analytical chemistry principles and laboratory quality control systems.
  • Excellent data analysis, interpretation, and report writing skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and environmental regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Experience with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System).
  • Certifications in specific analytical techniques or HSEQ training.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific analytical standards (e.g., API, IP).
