Job Description

We are actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Technician for immediate hiring to join our dynamic team in Ekpri Nsukara, Uyo. This critical role involves ensuring the optimal functioning, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of mechanical equipment and systems essential to our operations. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment, including pumps, compressors, turbines, valves, piping systems, and various rotating machinery.
  • Diagnose mechanical faults and failures, identifying root causes and implementing effective repair solutions to restore functionality promptly.
  • Execute equipment overhauls, repairs, and installations in accordance with engineering specifications, safety standards, and best industry practices.
  • Read and accurately interpret technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals to facilitate maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Utilize precision measuring tools and diagnostic equipment to ensure accurate repairs, alignments, and equipment calibration.
  • Maintain detailed maintenance records, logbooks, and reports of all work performed, including parts used and hours expended.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and environmental guidelines to foster a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with other technicians, engineers, and operational staff to ensure seamless workflow and efficient problem resolution.
  • Participate in emergency response procedures and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and safety.
  • Assist in the training and mentorship of junior technicians or apprentices when required, sharing knowledge and best practices.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in industrial mechanical maintenance and repair techniques.
  • Strong understanding of rotating equipment principles (pumps, compressors, turbines, gearboxes).
  • Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Experience with precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, dial indicators) and alignment techniques.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems operation and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for logging and tracking work orders.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety practices, procedures, and hazard identification.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and teamwork abilities in a diverse environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Higher National Diploma (HND) or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Professional certification in mechanical maintenance (e.g., COREN registration, relevant trade certifications such as City & Guilds).
  • A minimum of 5 years of proven experience working as a Mechanical Technician in the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or heavy industrial sectors.
  • Knowledge of predictive maintenance techniques (e.g., vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis).
  • Familiarity with permit-to-work systems and Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures in an industrial setting.
