As an Electrical Engineer at NLNG, you will be responsible for a wide array of tasks ranging from the design and implementation of electrical projects to the proactive maintenance, inspection, and troubleshooting of existing equipment. This encompasses everything from generators, transformers, switchgear, motors, and protective relays to sophisticated automation and control circuits. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, review, and implement electrical systems and components for various projects, ensuring adherence to international standards and company specifications.
  • Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical equipment, including generators, transformers, switchgear, motors, and control systems.
  • Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis for electrical faults and failures, developing and executing effective solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, industry standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE, NFPA), and company policies in all electrical engineering activities.
  • Provide technical support and expertise to operations and maintenance teams, assisting with complex electrical challenges and system optimizations.
  • Participate in electrical project planning, execution, and commissioning, including contractor supervision and quality assurance.
  • Develop and update electrical drawings, documentation, and maintenance procedures.
  • Identify opportunities for system improvements, energy efficiency, and technological upgrades.
  • Contribute to risk assessments and hazard analyses related to electrical systems and operations.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-NYSC experience in electrical engineering within an industrial setting, preferably in oil & gas, manufacturing, or power generation.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical power systems, control systems, and instrumentation.
  • Proficiency in interpreting electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • Familiarity with relevant electrical codes and standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE, NFPA).
  • Proven experience in troubleshooting electrical faults and conducting root cause analysis.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork abilities.
  • Commitment to safety and environmental best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional certification (e.g., COREN registration, NSE membership).
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Familiarity with process control systems (DCS, PLC) and SCADA systems.
  • Project management experience or certifications (e.g., PMP).
  • Knowledge of hazardous area classification and explosion protection techniques.
