Job Description
Waterloo Guest House & Restaurant is seeking a talented and passionate Pastry Chef to join our culinary team in the picturesque setting of Parottee, Black River. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, prepare, and bake a wide variety of pastries, desserts, breads, cakes, and other baked goods from scratch daily.
- Create new and innovative dessert recipes and menu items, incorporating local Jamaican flavors and international trends.
- Ensure all pastry items meet high standards of quality, presentation, and taste.
- Manage inventory of pastry ingredients, ensuring optimal stock levels and minimizing waste.
- Oversee the cleanliness and organization of the pastry station, adhering strictly to food safety and hygiene standards.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff in pastry techniques and best practices.
- Collaborate with the Head Chef and culinary team on menu planning and special event requirements.
- Monitor and control food costs related to the pastry section.
- Maintain all pastry equipment in good working order.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Pastry Chef, Baker, or relevant role.
- Exceptional creativity and artistic flair in dessert presentation.
- In-depth knowledge of baking principles, techniques, and pastry methods.
- Proficiency in various pastry preparation methods, including doughs, fillings, icings, and decorations.
- Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Ability to work efficiently and calmly in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
