Job Description

JMK Accountants is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Accountant to join our dynamic team in Stranmillis, Belfast. This pivotal role encompasses a broad spectrum of responsibilities across corporate finance, audit, and tax, offering a unique opportunity to engage with diverse clients and complex financial challenges. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute audit engagements from planning to completion, ensuring adherence to auditing standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and review corporate tax returns, ensuring compliance with relevant tax legislation and identifying potential tax planning opportunities.
  • Provide corporate finance advisory services, including financial modelling, valuations, due diligence, and support for mergers and acquisitions.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor on financial and strategic matters.
  • Analyze financial statements, reports, and other data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for clients.
  • Oversee junior accounting staff, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
  • Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards, tax laws, and industry best practices to ensure continuous professional development and client advice is current.
  • Prepare comprehensive financial reports and presentations for clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of internal controls and financial policies.
  • Contribute to the firm's business development initiatives and expansion strategies.

Required Skills

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 4 years post-qualification experience in an accounting firm or a corporate finance role.
  • Proven experience in corporate finance advisory, audit, and corporate tax.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles (IFRS/UK GAAP) and auditing standards.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial concepts.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet strict deadlines.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with a diverse client portfolio across various industries.
  • Prior experience working within a Big Four or a mid-tier accounting firm.
  • Additional qualifications or certifications in corporate finance, tax, or forensic accounting.
