Job Description

We are actively seeking a highly skilled and proactive Project Scheduling Analyst to join our dynamic team in Nanaimo. This is a critical role that will directly contribute to the successful planning, execution, and delivery of a diverse portfolio of engineering projects across various sectors including municipal infrastructure, water resources, and environmental engineering. As a Project Scheduling Analyst at KWL, you will be instrumental in developing, monitoring, and updating project schedules, ensuring that all project phases and milestones are accurately tracked and communicated. Your expertise will enable project managers to make informed decisions, identify potential delays, and optimize resource allocation, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules for multiple concurrent engineering projects using project management software.
  • Collaborate with project managers, project teams, and stakeholders to define project scope, activities, durations, and resource requirements.
  • Monitor project progress against baseline schedules, identify variances, and analyze critical paths to determine potential impacts on project delivery.
  • Prepare regular schedule performance reports, forecasts, and "what-if" scenarios to support decision-making and risk mitigation.
  • Facilitate schedule review meetings, communicate schedule status, and provide recommendations for schedule optimization and recovery.
  • Identify and track dependencies, milestones, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with overall project objectives.
  • Assist in the development of work breakdown structures (WBS) and activity definitions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives for scheduling processes, tools, and best practices within the organization.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in project scheduling or project controls, preferably within an engineering, construction, or consulting environment.
  • Proficiency in project scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).
  • Strong understanding of scheduling methodologies, critical path method (CPM), and earned value management (EVM) principles.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret complex project data and translate it into clear, concise reports and visualizations.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of effectively interacting with various project stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP) certification.
  • Experience with water resources, municipal infrastructure, or environmental engineering projects.
  • Familiarity with risk management principles as they relate to project scheduling.
