Job Description
Cross River Broadcasting Corporation (CRBC) is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Livestream Operator to join our dynamic technical team based in the vibrant Marina Beach area of Calabar. As a pivotal member of our broadcast operations, you will be instrumental in delivering high-quality live content across various digital platforms, ensuring CRBC maintains its reputation for excellence and innovation in broadcasting. This role is ideal for a technically proficient individual with a passion for live media production, who thrives in a fast-paced environment and possesses a meticulous eye for detail. You will be responsible for the end-to-end technical execution of live broadcasts, from meticulous setup and precise signal acquisition to continuous monitoring and swift troubleshooting, ensuring seamless delivery to our diverse audience.

Key Responsibilities
- Operate and manage all technical aspects of live streaming broadcasts, including cameras, audio mixers, video switchers, graphic generators, and encoding software/hardware.
- Perform pre-broadcast checks, equipment setup, configuration, and calibration to ensure optimal performance and readiness for live events.
- Monitor live streams for audio/video quality, connectivity, and performance issues, implementing immediate corrective actions as needed.
- Troubleshoot technical problems related to streaming equipment, network connectivity, and software in real-time.
- Collaborate with producers, directors, and content creators to understand broadcast requirements and execute their vision effectively.
- Manage content ingest, playback, and archiving for live and on-demand video assets.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in live streaming and broadcast production.
- Provide technical support for remote broadcasts and field operations when required.
- Ensure compliance with CRBC's broadcast standards and industry best practices.
- Maintain inventory of streaming equipment and report any malfunctions or repair needs.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Livestream Operator or similar technical broadcast role.
- Proficiency with live streaming platforms (e.g., YouTube Live, Facebook Live, custom CDNs).
- Expertise in operating video switchers (e.g., Blackmagic ATEM, NewTek TriCaster) and audio mixing consoles.
- Strong understanding of video formats, codecs, compression, and IP-based video transmission.
- Familiarity with various camera systems and lighting techniques for live production.
- Ability to quickly diagnose and resolve technical issues under pressure.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality output.
- Knowledge of basic networking principles relevant to streaming.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or HND in Broadcast Technology, Mass Communication, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Certifications in broadcast engineering or specific streaming software/hardware.
- Experience with graphic design software for creating on-screen elements.
- Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro).
- Familiarity with NDI and other IP-based video workflows.
- Experience working in a professional broadcast studio or event production environment.
