Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance on various mechanical systems and equipment, including pumps, compressors, conveyors, gearboxes, and heavy machinery.
- Diagnose mechanical malfunctions and troubleshoot complex issues to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
- Execute repairs, replacements, and overhauls of mechanical components with precision and adherence to manufacturer specifications.
- Participate in the installation, commissioning, and decommissioning of new machinery and equipment.
- Conduct regular inspections and performance tests to ensure equipment operates within specified parameters.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and industrial regulations.
- Collaborate with other technicians, engineers, and operational staff to optimize plant performance and minimize downtime.
- Utilize computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) for work order management and reporting.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to the development of enhanced maintenance strategies.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Technician in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating equipment.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematic diagrams.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong understanding of industrial safety protocols and procedures.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Physical stamina and ability to work in demanding industrial environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Higher National Diploma (HND) or Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Certifications in specific mechanical trades (e.g., welding, fitting, rigging).
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Knowledge of predictive maintenance techniques (e.g., vibration analysis, thermography).
- Prior experience in the cement, heavy manufacturing, or oil and gas industry.
