As an Electrical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design, development, and implementation of critical electrical systems for a diverse portfolio of projects. Your daily work will involve a comprehensive range of tasks, from conducting feasibility studies and conceptual design to performing detailed engineering calculations, developing specifications, and producing technical reports. You will be instrumental in selecting appropriate equipment, preparing tender documentation, and meticulously reviewing contractor submissions to ensure high standards of quality and compliance. Furthermore, you will oversee the testing and commissioning phases, ensuring that all electrical systems perform optimally and adhere strictly to international and national standards, including British Standards and relevant European directives. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed electrical design and engineering calculations for a variety of projects.
  • Prepare technical specifications, reports, and documentation, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary project teams, providing electrical engineering input and solutions.
  • Conduct site visits, surveys, and inspections to assess existing conditions and support construction phases.
  • Review contractor submissions, shop drawings, and equipment datasheets for technical accuracy and adherence to design.
  • Contribute to feasibility studies, risk assessments, and project planning.
  • Utilize industry-standard software for design, simulation, and analysis of electrical systems.
  • Assist in the commissioning and testing of electrical installations, ensuring functionality and safety.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in electrical system design for infrastructure or building projects.
  • Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, Amtech, ETAP, Revit).
  • Strong understanding of British Standards, IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671), and other relevant codes.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrable experience in designing power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and security systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant specialization.
  • Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards it.
  • Experience with renewable energy projects (solar, wind, energy storage).
  • Knowledge of smart building technologies and sustainable design principles.
  • Project management experience or familiarity with project lifecycle processes.
  • Experience in client interaction and presentation of technical concepts.
