As a Healthcare Assistant, you will be an integral part of our multidisciplinary team, working directly with patients to provide essential care and support. Your role will involve assisting patients with daily activities such as personal care, mobility, and feeding, monitoring vital signs, and maintaining accurate patient records. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with personal care, including bathing, dressing, and mobility.
  • Support patients with feeding and hydration, ensuring dietary needs are met.
  • Monitor and record patients' vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) and report any changes to qualified nursing staff.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe environment for patients.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, promoting their comfort and well-being.
  • Assist qualified nurses and healthcare professionals with clinical tasks as delegated and trained.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of patient care activities.
  • Adhere to all health and safety, infection control, and safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and the wider healthcare team.
  • Participate in handover meetings and team discussions to ensure continuity of care.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrable empathy and compassion for patients.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Good understanding of patient confidentiality and data protection.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience (at least 6 months) in a care setting (e.g., hospital, care home, community care).
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care, or equivalent qualification.
  • First Aid qualification.
  • Basic IT skills for record-keeping.
