Key Responsibilities

  • Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently, including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and cheque cashing.
  • Maintain and balance cash drawer daily, ensuring accuracy and strict adherence to bank policies and procedures.
  • Identify customer needs and effectively cross-sell appropriate bank products and services.
  • Resolve customer inquiries and issues promptly, courteously, and professionally.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of customer information and all bank records.
  • Adhere to all bank policies, operational procedures, and regulatory requirements, including anti-money laundering (AML) protocols.
  • Assist customers with account opening processes and provide clear guidance on various banking services.
  • Verify customer identities and transaction authenticity to prevent fraud and ensure security.
  • Operate banking software and equipment effectively and troubleshoot minor issues.
  • Contribute actively to a positive, collaborative, and results-oriented team environment.
  • Educate customers on alternative banking channels such as ATMs, mobile banking, and internet banking.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ordinary National Diploma (OND), Higher National Diploma (HND), or Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Banking & Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Previous experience (at least 6 months) as a bank teller or in a similar cash-handling customer service role.
  • Familiarity with Union Bank's products, services, and operational procedures.
  • Knowledge of banking regulations and compliance standards in Nigeria.
  • Ability to speak local languages relevant to Calabar (e.g., Efik, Ibibio) is a significant advantage.
