Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Healthcare Assistant to join our dynamic team at Savanna-la-Mar Public Hospital. Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily activities, including personal hygiene, mobility, feeding, and dressing.
- Monitor and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) and report any significant changes to nursing staff.
- Help patients with ambulation and transfers, utilizing proper body mechanics and assistive devices as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe patient environment, including tidying rooms and changing linens.
- Support nurses and doctors during examinations, procedures, and treatments.
- Respond to patient call bells promptly and assist with their needs or notify appropriate staff.
- Document patient care activities accurately and in a timely manner.
- Assist with the admission, transfer, and discharge of patients.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, fostering a comforting atmosphere.
- Adhere strictly to all hospital policies, procedures, and infection control guidelines.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 6 months of experience in a healthcare support role (e.g., nursing assistant, caregiver).
- Completion of a certified Healthcare Assistant, Practical Nursing, or equivalent program.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient-focused approach.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Physical stamina to perform duties that may involve lifting, standing, and walking for extended periods.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and patient care principles.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications for documentation.

- Prior experience in a hospital or clinic setting.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
