Job Description

Mac-Davids Engineering Services Ltd is seeking an experienced Electric Panel Tester to join our growing team in Ikot Ekpo, Calabar. This crucial role involves the rigorous testing, troubleshooting, and validation of electrical control panels and distribution boards, ensuring they meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and functionality before deployment.
As an Electric Panel Tester, you will be at the forefront of our quality assurance process, utilizing your expertise in voltage testing, continuity checks, insulation resistance, and functional verification. Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive electrical tests on control panels, distribution boards, and related components, including voltage, current, resistance, insulation, and continuity checks.
- Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications to ensure accurate testing and adherence to design parameters.
- Identify, diagnose, and troubleshoot faults or malfunctions in electrical panels and systems, providing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.
- Conduct functional testing of integrated components such as PLCs, relays, circuit breakers, and motor controls.
- Ensure all testing procedures comply with relevant industry standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE, NFPA) and company quality protocols.
- Calibrate and maintain testing equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability of measurements.
- Document all test results, observations, and findings meticulously, maintaining accurate records for quality assurance and traceability.
- Provide technical support and guidance to production, installation, and field service teams on electrical panel functionality and troubleshooting.
- Assist in the development and refinement of testing procedures and quality control guidelines.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety regulations and promote a safe working environment.
- Participate in root cause analysis for recurring issues and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as an Electric Panel Tester or similar role in electrical manufacturing or industrial settings.
- Strong understanding of electrical principles, circuits, and control systems.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Expertise in using various electrical testing equipment (multimeters, insulation testers, clamp meters, oscilloscopes).
- Solid knowledge of electrical safety standards and practices.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical faults.
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Higher National Diploma (HND) or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related field.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., COREN, NEBOSH IGC for safety).
- Experience with PLC programming and testing.
