Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated, compassionate, and skilled Dentist – a dedicated Dental Surgeon – to join our dynamic team at May Pen Dental Centre. Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive oral examinations, diagnose dental conditions, and formulate appropriate treatment plans.
- Execute a wide range of general dental procedures, including fillings, extractions, root canals, crowns, bridges, and prosthodontic treatments.
- Administer local anesthesia effectively and manage patient comfort during procedures.
- Provide preventive dental care, including prophylaxis, fluoride applications, and patient education on oral hygiene techniques.
- Take and interpret dental radiographs (X-rays) accurately.
- Maintain accurate, detailed, and up-to-date patient records and charts.
- Collaborate effectively with dental assistants, hygienists, and administrative staff to ensure efficient patient flow and quality care.
- Adhere to strict sterilization and infection control protocols in accordance with professional guidelines.
- Stay current with advancements in dentistry through continuing education and professional development.
- Communicate clearly and empathetically with patients, explaining diagnoses, treatment options, and post-operative care instructions.
- Manage and prioritize a diverse patient caseload while maintaining a high standard of clinical excellence.
Required Skills
- Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited institution.
- Valid license to practice dentistry in Jamaica.
- Minimum of 3 years of post-licensure clinical experience in general dentistry.
- Proficiency in performing a wide range of dental procedures including restorative, endodontic, periodontic, and oral surgery.
- Excellent diagnostic and treatment planning skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients of all ages.
- Demonstrated commitment to patient safety and ethical practice.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in using dental software and digital imaging systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with advanced cosmetic dental procedures.
- Experience with pediatric dentistry.
- CPR and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Participation in professional dental associations or societies.
- Demonstrated commitment to community outreach and dental health education initiatives.
