Key Responsibilities
- Assist dentists and hygienists during a wide range of dental procedures, including examinations, fillings, extractions, and cosmetic treatments.
- Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment in accordance with strict infection control guidelines and practice protocols.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked clinical environment, ensuring all necessary materials are available for scheduled appointments.
- Provide clear and compassionate pre- and post-operative instructions to patients, reinforcing oral hygiene practices.
- Manage patient records, schedule appointments, and assist with general administrative tasks to ensure smooth clinic operations.
- Perform X-rays when required and ensure proper handling and protection for patients.
- Monitor patient comfort and well-being throughout their visit, addressing concerns and providing reassurance.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Dental Nurse or Dental Assistant
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques and chairside manners
- Strong knowledge of infection control, decontamination, and sterilization protocols
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic clinical environment
- Compassionate, empathetic, and professional patient care approach
- Basic understanding of dental terminology, procedures, and materials
- High level of attention to detail and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification from a recognized Dental Nursing program or equivalent qualification.
- Experience with dental practice management software (e.g., Dentrix, Open Dental).
- Knowledge of local health regulations and standards in Jamaica.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification.
