Job Description
May Pen Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Radiographer to join our dynamic Radiology Department. As a Radiographer, you will be instrumental in operating advanced imaging equipment, including X-ray and computed radiography systems, to produce high-quality diagnostic images. Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain X-ray, CR, and other diagnostic imaging equipment with precision and care.
- Position patients correctly for various radiographic procedures, ensuring optimal image quality and patient comfort.
- Apply appropriate radiation protection measures to patients and staff in accordance with safety regulations.
- Verify patient identity and medical history, ensuring accurate records and procedure alignment.
- Process and review images for technical quality, making necessary adjustments to achieve diagnostic standards.
- Maintain accurate patient records, including imaging parameters and procedural details.
- Communicate effectively with patients, explaining procedures clearly and addressing any concerns.
- Collaborate with radiologists and other medical staff to ensure timely and accurate diagnostic information.
- Perform routine quality assurance checks on equipment and report any malfunctions.
- Participate in departmental meetings, training sessions, and continuous professional development activities.
Required Skills
- Diploma or Degree in Radiography or Diagnostic Imaging.
- Current registration with the relevant professional body in Jamaica.
- Minimum of 2 years of post-qualification experience as a Radiographer.
- Proficiency in operating various X-ray and imaging equipment.
- Thorough understanding of radiation safety principles and practices.
- Excellent patient care and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Basic computer literacy for record-keeping and data management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System).
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Familiarity with other imaging modalities such as Ultrasound or CT scanning.
- A track record of continuous professional development and engagement in clinical audits or research.
