Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union is seeking a dedicated Finance Clerk to join our Accounting Department in Hilo. Key Responsibilities
- Process and verify a high volume of financial transactions, including invoices, payments, and general ledger entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with credit union policies.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly account reconciliations for various balance sheet accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies promptly and efficiently.
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, reports, and documentation, ensuring all data is organized, easily retrievable, and compliant with audit standards.
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements and reports as needed by the Accounting Manager or other senior accounting staff.
- Support the general ledger function by posting entries and ensuring proper classification and allocation of transactions.
- Collaborate effectively with other departments to resolve financial inquiries and ensure smooth operational workflow across the credit union.
- Adhere strictly to all credit union policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including GAAP and NCUA guidelines.
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and information in a timely and organized manner.
- Manage petty cash and process expense reports, ensuring all expenditures are properly documented and approved.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve accounting processes and enhance efficiency within the department.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis).
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, reconciliation, and record-keeping.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate financial information clearly.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team environment.
- High degree of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality when handling sensitive financial information.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field.
- 1-2 years of experience in a finance or accounting support role, preferably within a financial institution or credit union.
- Familiarity with financial software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Knowledge of credit union operations and regulatory compliance frameworks.
