Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, eating, and mobility.
- Monitor vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) and report changes or concerns to the nursing staff.
- Help patients with ambulation and transfers, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of patient rooms and common areas, ensuring a sterile and safe environment.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, fostering a positive and comforting atmosphere.
- Document patient care activities, observations, and relevant information accurately and promptly.
- Assist with feeding and ensure patients receive appropriate nutrition and hydration.
- Respond to patient calls and requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist nurses with medical procedures as directed, ensuring patient privacy and dignity.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, infection control policies, and organizational procedures.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Nursing Assistant, Caregiver, or similar role.
- Strong understanding of basic patient care and hygiene.
- Ability to take vital signs accurately.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Empathy, compassion, and a patient-centred approach.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Physical stamina and strength to assist patients with mobility.
- Basic computer literacy for documentation.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) or equivalent from a recognized institution.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience working in a hospital, clinic, or long-term care facility.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to speak Patois is a plus for local communication.
