Job Description

Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, accurately and safely.
- Monitor and record vital signs, observe changes in patient condition, and report significant findings to medical staff.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to develop and execute individualized care plans.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment options, and self-care techniques.
- Maintain accurate and thorough patient medical records and documentation.
- Respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies and acute changes in patient status.
- Ensure compliance with all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
Required Skills
- Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Jamaica
- Proven experience in a hospital or clinical setting
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Proficiency in basic life support (BLS) and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Demonstrated empathy, compassion, and patient-centered approach to care
- Sound knowledge of medical terminology, disease processes, and pharmacology
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Specialized certifications (e.g., ER, ICU, PALS)
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Fluency in additional languages common in the community
