Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, accurately and safely.
  • Monitor and record vital signs, observe changes in patient condition, and report significant findings to medical staff.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to develop and execute individualized care plans.
  • Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment options, and self-care techniques.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough patient medical records and documentation.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies and acute changes in patient status.
  • Ensure compliance with all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.

Required Skills

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Jamaica
  • Proven experience in a hospital or clinical setting
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Proficiency in basic life support (BLS) and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Demonstrated empathy, compassion, and patient-centered approach to care
  • Sound knowledge of medical terminology, disease processes, and pharmacology

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Specialized certifications (e.g., ER, ICU, PALS)
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems
  • Fluency in additional languages common in the community
