As a Cleaner for our NGO facilities, you will be instrumental in maintaining sterile conditions in medical areas, ensuring a tidy and welcoming atmosphere in administrative offices, and managing waste responsibly. Key Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize all assigned areas within MSF facilities, including medical wards, consultation rooms, offices, latrines, and common spaces, strictly adhering to MSF hygiene protocols.
  • Perform daily sweeping, mopping, dusting, and waste collection from all designated bins.
  • Ensure proper segregation and disposal of medical and general waste, following established safety and environmental guidelines.
  • Replenish hygiene supplies such as soap, toilet paper, and hand sanitizer in all restrooms and designated areas.
  • Monitor cleaning supplies stock levels and report needs to the supervisor to ensure continuous availability.
  • Clean and maintain cleaning equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
  • Assist with the movement of furniture or equipment as required to facilitate cleaning tasks or reconfigurations.
  • Report any maintenance issues, damages, or potential safety hazards observed within the facilities.
  • Adhere to all MSF safety and security policies and procedures at all times.

Required Skills

  • Proven ability to understand and follow instructions effectively.
  • Physical stamina and ability to perform repetitive tasks, including lifting and bending.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
  • Reliable, punctual, and a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience (at least 6 months) in a cleaning or housekeeping role, preferably in a hospital, clinic, or NGO setting.
  • Familiarity with basic infection control practices and waste management procedures.
  • Knowledge of local languages (e.g., Tshiluba, Lingala) and/or French.
  • Understanding of humanitarian principles and commitment to MSF's values.
