As an Inventory Clerk, you will be entrusted with managing all aspects of inventory control, from the precise receiving and systematic dispatching of goods to conducting rigorous regular stock counts and meticulously reconciling any discrepancies. You will play a vital role in maintaining the integrity of our inventory data, directly contributing to our operational efficiency, minimizing shrinkage, and ultimately enhancing customer satisfaction by ensuring product availability. This position demands a keen understanding of inventory management principles, strong analytical acumen to identify patterns and solve problems, and the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with various departments, including sales, warehousing, and procurement, to achieve common goals.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will be diverse and impactful, involving the proficient utilization of our advanced inventory management system to track stock movements, prepare detailed and insightful reports on inventory status, investigate the root causes of stock variances, and ensure that all merchandise is correctly categorized, labeled, and stored in accordance with company standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain accurate inventory records using the company's inventory management system.
  • Conduct regular physical inventory counts (cycle counts) and full stock takes to ensure data accuracy.
  • Reconcile inventory discrepancies, investigate root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming goods against purchase orders and invoices, noting any discrepancies or damages.
  • Coordinate the efficient dispatch of goods to the sales floor or other departments as required.
  • Monitor stock levels, identify slow-moving or obsolete items, and report findings to management for strategic decision-making.
  • Assist in organizing and maintaining the warehouse and storage areas for optimal efficiency, cleanliness, and safety.
  • Generate and analyze inventory reports to identify trends, forecast needs, and highlight areas for improvement in stock control.
  • Collaborate effectively with procurement, sales, and logistics teams to ensure smooth inventory flow and minimize disruptions.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all company policies and procedures related to inventory control, quality, and safety standards.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience of at least 1 year in inventory management or a similar role, preferably in a retail or hypermarket environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks, especially data entry and reconciliation.
  • Proficiency in using inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel for data analysis).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve inventory-related issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective teamwork and reporting.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced setting.
  • Physical stamina to lift and move merchandise (up to 25kg), and stand for extended periods.
  • Basic mathematical skills for counting, calculations, and stock assessment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • OND/HND/B.Sc. in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Experience with SAP or similar Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Knowledge of retail operations, merchandising principles, and warehouse best practices.
  • Certification in inventory management or supply chain is a plus.
