You will be tasked with expertly identifying and treating various types of stains, performing rigorous quality checks on all laundered items, and diligently maintaining an organized, efficient, and pristine laundry area. A keen eye for detail, coupled with a fundamental understanding of different fabric types and appropriate cleaning agents, are absolutely essential for success in this role. Key Responsibilities
- Operate commercial washing, drying, and ironing equipment safely and efficiently.
- Sort laundry items meticulously according to fabric type, colour, and degree of soiling.
- Apply appropriate detergents, stain removers, and fabric softeners to ensure optimal cleanliness and fabric care.
- Inspect items thoroughly for stains, damage, and wear before and after laundering, addressing issues as needed.
- Fold, stack, and organize clean linens, towels, and guest clothing neatly for storage or immediate distribution.
- Maintain the cleanliness, orderliness, and hygiene of the entire laundry area, including all equipment.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, maintenance needs, or safety concerns promptly to the supervisor.
- Manage laundry supplies inventory, accurately tracking usage and informing management when restocking is required.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and hygiene standards and established regulations.
- Handle guest personal items with the utmost care, discretion, and respect for privacy.
Required Skills
- Strong attention to detail and a steadfast commitment to high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
- Physical stamina and the ability to stand, lift, bend, and move heavy loads (up to 25kg) for extended periods.
- Basic understanding of laundry processes, equipment operation, and textile care.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as an integral part of a team.
- Excellent time management skills to ensure timely completion of tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic literacy for reading labels, operating instructions, and following safety guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (1-2 years) in a laundry department within a hotel, guest house, or similar service environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of different fabric types, their specific care requirements, and effective stain removal techniques.
- Familiarity with industrial laundry machines and the safe and correct usage of various laundry chemicals.
- Ability to identify and effectively treat a wide range of stains on different materials.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
