Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Experienced Electrician to join our dynamic project team in Kado, Abuja. This is a crucial on-site role where you will be primarily responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and components across various construction and development sites. The ideal candidate will be proficient in reading blueprints, troubleshooting complex electrical issues, and ensuring all work adheres strictly to national electrical codes, industry standards, and stringent safety regulations. We are looking for an individual who thrives in a site-based environment, possesses strong problem-solving skills, and is dedicated to delivering high-quality electrical workmanship.
This position requires a professional who can work autonomously as well as part of a team, managing multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining impeccable standards. You will be instrumental in connecting power to various systems, including lighting, HVAC, machinery, and control panels, ensuring optimal functionality and safety. Given the project-based nature of this role, on-site accommodation will be provided to ensure convenience, reduce commute times, and facilitate seamless integration into our project workflow. This allows our electricians to focus entirely on their expertise and contribute significantly to the timely and successful completion of our infrastructure projects. Your expertise will directly impact the safety, efficiency, and long-term reliability of the electrical installations, which are foundational to the success of GCL Limited’s endeavors.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures on project sites.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to determine wiring layouts and system specifications.
- Perform diagnostic tests and troubleshoot electrical issues using appropriate testing devices.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with national electrical codes (e.g., Nigerian Electrical Safety Regulations) and company safety policies.
- Connect power to various systems, including lighting, HVAC systems, machinery, and control panels.
- Inspect electrical components, such as transformers and circuit breakers, for hazards and defects.
- Install and maintain power, lighting, control, and communication systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems and components to ensure longevity and efficiency.
- Work collaboratively with other construction professionals to ensure project timelines and quality standards are met.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior electricians or apprentices as required.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a certified Electrician with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
- Thorough knowledge of electrical systems, wiring methods, equipment, and safety standards.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications.
- Exceptional troubleshooting and diagnostic skills to identify and resolve complex electrical issues.
- Strong understanding of national electrical codes and regulations (e.g., Nigerian Electrical Safety Regulations).
- Physical stamina, dexterity, and the ability to work in various environmental conditions.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Valid trade certification or license as an Electrician from a recognized institution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ordinary National Diploma (OND) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Previous experience working on large-scale industrial or commercial construction projects.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR.
- Valid driver's license.
