Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of various food items, including washing, peeling, chopping vegetables, and portioning ingredients under the guidance of cooks and supervisors.
- Support the kitchen team in preparing salads, sandwiches, fruits, and other cold food items.
- Ensure all food preparation areas and equipment are cleaned and sanitized regularly throughout the shift, adhering to strict health and safety standards.
- Operate and clean kitchen equipment such as mixers, slicers, and dishwashers safely and efficiently.
- Wash and properly store dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and other kitchenware.
- Assist with receiving, rotating, and storing food supplies and ingredients, ensuring proper stock rotation (FIFO – First In, First Out).
- Monitor food temperatures and ensure compliance with food safety regulations and critical control points.
- Help set up and replenish serving lines and self-service stations during meal periods.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including floors, counters, and storage areas.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth operations.
- Adhere to all university policies and procedures, including those related to health, safety, and hygiene.
- Assist with any other duties as assigned to support the overall efficiency of the food service operation.
Required Skills
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
- Basic understanding of kitchen safety and hygiene practices.

- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks.

- Food Safe Level 1 certification or willingness to obtain it within the first three months of employment.
