Are you a highly skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer with a passion for power generation, transmission, distribution, and advanced control systems? JPSCo, Jamaica’s premier electricity provider, is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team in the Mandeville region, serving areas including Knockpatrick. This critical role involves contributing to the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of our robust electrical infrastructure, with a specific focus on power systems and intricate control mechanisms.

You will be expected to conduct detailed engineering analyses, prepare technical specifications, oversee the installation and commissioning of electrical equipment, and provide expert guidance on power system operations. Key Responsibilities
- Design, analyze, and optimize power generation, transmission, and distribution systems.
- Develop and implement control system solutions (PLC, SCADA, DCS) for electrical equipment and processes.
- Conduct power system studies, including fault analysis, load flow, and transient stability.
- Oversee the installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot complex electrical and control system issues, providing expert diagnosis and resolution.
- Prepare technical specifications, engineering drawings, and project documentation.
- Ensure compliance with national and international electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with project managers, technicians, and other engineering disciplines on multidisciplinary projects.
- Evaluate new technologies and recommend improvements for system efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.
- Provide technical support and training to operations and maintenance personnel.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in power systems, electrical utility, or heavy industrial environments.
- Proven expertise in power generation, transmission, and distribution systems.
- Strong proficiency in control systems, including PLC programming, SCADA systems, and DCS.
- Experience with power system analysis software (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E, PSCAD).
- Familiarity with protective relaying principles and applications.
- Knowledge of electrical codes and safety standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE, IEC).
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and blueprints.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility for licensure in Jamaica.
- Experience with renewable energy integration (solar, wind) into the grid.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles for industrial control systems.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Experience with smart grid technologies and advanced metering infrastructure (AMI).
