Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Club Waiter to join our vibrant Night Bar team at the Calabar International Convention Centre. As a Club Waiter, you will be the face of our night bar, playing a crucial role in delivering exceptional service and ensuring our guests have an unforgettable experience. This isn’t just about taking orders; it’s about creating an inviting and energetic atmosphere, understanding our diverse clientele, and anticipating their needs with a proactive and friendly approach. You will be responsible for serving beverages and food items efficiently and courteously in a fast-paced night environment, often involving live music or entertainment.
Your duties will include greeting guests warmly, accurately taking drink and food orders, relaying them to the bar or kitchen, and ensuring timely delivery. You will need excellent memory for orders, a keen eye for detail when presenting items, and the ability to handle cash and card transactions accurately. Maintaining a clean and organized bar area, restocking supplies, and adhering to all health and safety regulations will be part of your daily routine. Key Responsibilities
- Warmly greet and welcome guests as they enter the night bar, seating them appropriately if required.
- Accurately take drink and food orders, remembering special requests and allergies.
- Efficiently communicate orders to bartenders and kitchen staff, ensuring timely preparation and delivery.
- Serve beverages and food items with professionalism, precision, and an engaging demeanor.
- Monitor guest satisfaction, proactively addressing any concerns or requests promptly and courteously.
- Handle cash, credit card, and mobile payment transactions accurately and securely.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of serving areas, tables, and surrounding bar environment.
- Restock bar supplies, glassware, and other necessary items throughout the shift.
- Adhere strictly to all local licensing laws, health, safety, and hygiene standards.
- Collaborate effectively with the bar team, kitchen staff, and management to ensure seamless service.
- Assist in setting up and closing down the bar area, including cleaning and inventory tasks.
- Identify opportunities to upsell and promote special drinks or menu items to enhance the guest experience.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a waiter or in a customer service role, preferably in a bar or club setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and outgoing personality.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in basic math and cash handling.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift moderate weights.
- A positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
- Basic knowledge of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
- Fluency in English (additional local languages are a plus).
Preferred Qualifications
- Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or equivalent.
- Prior experience in a nightlife or high-volume hospitality establishment.
- Knowledge of POS (Point of Sale) systems.
