Job Description
Sterling Bank is seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Loan Officer to join our dynamic team in Marian Market, Calabar. This is an exceptional opportunity for a professional with a passion for financial services and a commitment to customer success. As a Loan Officer, you will be instrumental in driving our retail and commercial lending initiatives within the vibrant Calabar market. Your primary objective will be to identify, attract, and retain clients by offering tailored loan products that meet their diverse financial needs, ranging from personal loans to small and medium enterprise (SME) financing. You will be responsible for building strong relationships with prospective and existing customers, conducting thorough financial analyses, assessing creditworthiness, and guiding applicants through the entire loan application process. This role requires a strong understanding of lending principles, risk management, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and negotiation skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team environment. You will play a crucial role in expanding Sterling Bank’s presence and impact in the Marian Market area, contributing directly to the bank’s growth and profitability. Key Responsibilities
- Proactively identify and solicit new loan opportunities from individuals and businesses within the Marian Market, Calabar area.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing clients to ensure satisfaction and identify cross-selling opportunities.
- Conduct comprehensive financial assessments, credit analyses, and risk evaluations of loan applicants.
- Prepare and present loan proposals, ensuring adherence to the bank's lending policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Guide clients through the loan application process, explaining terms and conditions clearly and professionally.
- Monitor loan portfolio performance, managing delinquencies and ensuring timely repayment.
- Stay informed about market trends, competitor activities, and changes in lending regulations.
- Achieve assigned sales targets for loan origination and portfolio growth.
- Collaborate with other bank departments to ensure a seamless customer experience.
- Prepare regular reports on loan activities, pipeline, and portfolio status.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in lending, credit analysis, or a similar role within the banking sector.
- Strong understanding of financial products, particularly various loan types.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain client relationships.
- Proficiency in financial analysis and credit risk assessment.
- Results-oriented with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding targets.
