Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Office Technician specializing in IT Hardware (Repairs & Setup) to join our robust IT department at our Lagos Island office. In this crucial role, you will be the frontline support for all hardware-related issues, ensuring the seamless operation of our IT infrastructure across various departments. This position demands a proactive individual with a strong understanding of computer hardware, peripherals, and basic networking components. Your primary responsibility will involve diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and setting up a wide array of IT equipment, including desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, and other office technology. You will play a vital part in minimizing downtime, enhancing productivity, and providing exceptional technical support to our employees. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of IT service delivery within a fast-paced corporate environment. Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic tests, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware issues for desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, and other peripheral devices.
- Install, configure, and set up new IT hardware and software for employees, ensuring compliance with company standards and security policies.
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance on IT equipment to ensure optimal performance and extend asset lifespan.
- Manage and maintain an accurate inventory of all IT hardware, components, and spare parts.
- Provide technical support and guidance to end-users on hardware-related queries and issues, ensuring quick and effective resolution.
- Collaborate with the broader IT team to escalate complex issues and contribute to infrastructure projects.
- Document all service requests, resolutions, and configurations in the IT service management system.
- Assist in the deployment and relocation of IT equipment during office moves or reconfigurations.
- Ensure all IT hardware disposals adhere to company policies and environmental regulations.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in IT hardware repair, setup, and maintenance.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting issues with PC hardware components (motherboards, RAM, CPUs, storage devices).
- Solid understanding of Windows operating systems and common office productivity software.
- Familiarity with network connectivity and basic troubleshooting of LAN/WAN issues.
- Ability to perform component-level repairs where applicable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with diverse users.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for inventory management and documentation.
- Problem-solving aptitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or HND in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), or equivalent.
- Experience with IT service management (ITSM) tools and ticketing systems.
- Prior experience working in a banking or financial services environment.
- Knowledge of enterprise-level hardware troubleshooting and corporate IT policies.
