Job Description
Are you a passionate storyteller with a captivating voice and a keen eye for local narratives? Sheffield Live! TV & Radio, Sheffield’s leading community-focused media platform, is seeking a dynamic and versatile Broadcaster to join our vibrant team. This pivotal role involves creating compelling content for both television and radio, engaging directly with our diverse audience, and championing the voices and stories that matter most to our community.
As a Broadcaster – TV & Radio, you will be at the forefront of our programming, responsible for presenting live shows, producing pre-recorded segments, conducting insightful interviews, and reporting on local events. You’ll have the unique opportunity to shape public discourse, entertain, and inform listeners and viewers across Sheffield, contributing directly to the cultural fabric of our city. This role demands creativity, adaptability, and a strong understanding of broadcast media principles. You’ll work across various genres, from news and current affairs to music, arts, and community discussions. Beyond your on-air presence, you will be involved in the entire content lifecycle, including research, scriptwriting, editing, and technical operation of broadcast equipment. You will also be expected to utilise social media and digital platforms to promote content and interact with our audience, extending our reach and engagement. Key Responsibilities
- Present live radio and television programmes with energy and professionalism.
- Conduct engaging interviews with guests, experts, and community members.
- Research, write, and edit scripts for broadcast, ensuring accuracy and compelling storytelling.
- Operate broadcast equipment, including mixing desks, cameras, and editing software.
- Generate original content ideas and develop programme segments relevant to the Sheffield community.
- Report on local news, events, and cultural happenings.
- Engage with the audience through phone-ins, social media, and community outreach.
- Collaborate with producers, editors, and technical staff to ensure high-quality output.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local affairs, news, and community interests.
- Adhere to broadcast standards, journalistic ethics, and station guidelines.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a broadcaster or presenter in radio and/or television.
- Exceptional verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong interviewing and investigative reporting abilities.
- Excellent scriptwriting and storytelling capabilities.
- Familiarity with broadcast equipment and audio/video editing software.
- Ability to perform under pressure in a live broadcast environment.
- Deep understanding of the Sheffield community and its diverse demographics.
- Proficiency in social media for content promotion and audience engagement.
- A proactive and collaborative team player attitude.
- Valid UK driving license.
Preferred Qualifications
- A degree or diploma in Journalism, Media Studies, Broadcasting, or a related field.
- Experience working within a community media setting.
- Proficiency with specific broadcast software (e.g., Myriad, Adobe Audition, Final Cut Pro).
