Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently load and unload freight from trailers using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
- Sort and segregate freight according to destination and type, ensuring proper handling and placement.
- Verify freight counts against shipping documents and accurately record discrepancies.
- Stage outgoing shipments in designated areas for timely loading.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment at all times, adhering to all company safety protocols and procedures.
- Inspect equipment before and after use, reporting any malfunctions or damage immediately.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to meet operational goals and deadlines.
- Perform general warehouse duties as assigned, including wrapping pallets, labeling, and other tasks to support terminal operations.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 pounds regularly and perform strenuous physical tasks for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in freight handling and documentation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic math and reading skills to interpret labels and shipping documents.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to all company policies and procedures.
- Flexibility to work a night shift schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Prior experience (6+ months) in a warehouse, distribution, or logistics environment.
- Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment (certification preferred).
- Familiarity with LTL freight operations.
