Job Description

Are you a compassionate, skilled, and dedicated Therapist passionate about making a profound impact on individuals’ mental health? Sheffield Mind is seeking a qualified and experienced Therapist to join our dynamic and supportive team, providing essential counseling and mental health support services to the Heeley community and wider Sheffield area. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, person-centred therapeutic interventions to adults experiencing a diverse range of mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, bereavement, and stress. You will conduct comprehensive assessments, develop tailored treatment plans, and facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, both in-person at our community-based locations (including potential sessions within the Heeley area) and remotely via secure online platforms. We are looking for an individual who is not only clinically proficient but also deeply empathetic, culturally sensitive, and committed to upholding the highest ethical standards of practice. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial assessments to ascertain service users' therapeutic needs and formulate appropriate intervention plans.
  • Deliver evidence-based individual and group counseling sessions using a range of therapeutic modalities.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date client records in compliance with GDPR and professional guidelines.
  • Collaborate with other professionals within Sheffield Mind and external agencies to ensure holistic support.
  • Participate in regular clinical supervision and team meetings to enhance practice and service delivery.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and evaluation of therapeutic services, promoting best practices.
  • Adhere strictly to Sheffield Mind's policies, safeguarding procedures, and relevant professional codes of conduct.
  • Promote mental health awareness and reduce stigma within the community through various initiatives.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 3 years post-qualification) in delivering counseling or psychotherapy services to adults.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and application of various therapeutic modalities (e.g., CBT, Person-Centred, Psychodynamic).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective client and team interaction.
  • Strong empathetic listening and rapport-building abilities, essential for therapeutic relationships.
  • Ability to manage a diverse caseload effectively, including scheduling, case notes, and record-keeping.
  • Proficiency in using secure digital platforms for remote therapy sessions and administrative tasks.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development, ethical practice, and adherence to safeguarding principles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Accreditation with a relevant professional body (e.g., BACP, UKCP, NCS).
  • Experience working within a charity or non-profit mental health service.
  • Specialist training or experience in areas such as trauma, grief, specific mental health conditions, or group facilitation.
  • Familiarity with local mental health services and community resources in Sheffield.
  • Ability to offer therapy in multiple languages to support our diverse community.
