Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Warehouse Supervisor to oversee our operations at the Watt Market facility in Calabar. This pivotal role involves leading a team to ensure the efficient receipt, storage, dispatch, and monitoring of goods, maintaining the highest standards of inventory accuracy and operational safety. The successful candidate will be instrumental in optimizing warehouse processes, managing staff performance, and ensuring seamless coordination with delivery and customer service teams. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily warehouse activities, including receiving, warehousing, distribution, and maintenance operations.
- Monitor stock levels, conduct regular inventory checks, and ensure accurate record-keeping using warehouse management systems (WMS).
- Lead, train, and motivate warehouse staff, fostering a productive and safe working environment.
- Implement and enforce health and safety regulations, ensuring compliance with company policies and local laws.
- Oversee the proper handling, storage, and dispatch of goods, minimizing damage, loss, and discrepancies.
- Optimize warehouse layout and space utilization to enhance efficiency and accessibility.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on warehouse performance, inventory status, and operational metrics.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as transport and customer service, to ensure smooth end-to-end logistics.
- Identify areas for process improvement and implement solutions to enhance productivity and reduce operational costs.
- Conduct performance appraisals for team members and provide constructive feedback and development opportunities.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Warehouse Supervisor or similar role in a logistics or supply chain environment.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management techniques, and best practices.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Proficiency in using warehouse management systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
- Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or HND in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Certification in Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies.
- Experience with material handling equipment operation and safety protocols.
- Familiarity with local logistics regulations and industry standards in Nigeria.
