Key Responsibilities
- Dispense prescription medications accurately and safely, ensuring strict adherence to all pharmaceutical laws and regulations.
- Provide comprehensive patient counseling on medication use, potential side effects, drug interactions, and general health and wellness.
- Oversee and manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and conducting regular stock checks to prevent shortages or expiry.
- Maintain accurate patient records and prescription files, ensuring confidentiality and data privacy.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care and resolve medication-related issues.
- Manage and supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Conduct health screenings, administer immunizations (where applicable and certified), and offer basic health advice.
- Ensure the pharmacy maintains high standards of cleanliness, organization, and compliance with all operational procedures.
- Handle customer inquiries and complaints professionally and efficiently, striving for first-call resolution and customer satisfaction.
- Stay updated with new drugs, medical advancements, and changes in pharmaceutical regulations through continuous professional development.
Required Skills
- Registered Pharmacist with the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) and a valid practicing license.
- Proven experience in a retail pharmacy setting (minimum 2 years post-NYSC).
- Excellent knowledge of pharmaceutical products, drug interactions, and patient counseling techniques.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in using pharmacy management software and basic computer applications.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
- Strong ethical compass and commitment to patient privacy and professional conduct.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to make sound clinical judgments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with HealthPlus Pharmacy or a similar large retail pharmacy chain.
- Additional certifications in specialized areas (e.g., medication therapy management, diabetes education).
- Experience in supervising and mentoring junior pharmacy staff.
- Knowledge of local community health needs and initiatives.
