Job Description

We are seeking an exceptionally motivated and highly skilled Doctor to join our dynamic team as a GP & Specialist at Northfield Medical Centre. This unique full-time role offers an exciting opportunity for a medical professional who excels in primary care and possesses an additional specialist interest or qualification, allowing them to provide enhanced services to our community. You will be instrumental in delivering holistic and evidence-based care, managing a diverse patient caseload, and contributing to the strategic development of our practice. Your responsibilities will span the full spectrum of general practice, including consultations, chronic disease management, preventive care, and urgent care, all while integrating your specialist knowledge to address complex patient needs. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive general medical services, including diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of acute and chronic conditions for a diverse patient population.
  • Conduct specialist clinics or provide enhanced services within your area of expertise (e.g., minor surgery, dermatology, women’s health, mental health, paediatrics).
  • Undertake patient consultations, home visits, and triage duties efficiently and effectively, adhering to GMC guidelines and best practice.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, formulate treatment plans, and refer patients appropriately to secondary care or allied health services.
  • Maintain accurate and contemporaneous patient records using our electronic health record system.
  • Participate in clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement activities to ensure the highest standards of patient care.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and actively contribute to the training and education of junior colleagues and medical students.
  • Collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary team, including nurses, practice pharmacists, and administrative staff, to deliver integrated care.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning and development of practice services, particularly within your area of specialisation.
  • Adhere to all relevant clinical guidelines, policies, and procedures, including those related to safeguarding and confidentiality.

Required Skills

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practice.
  • Inclusion on the GMC GP Register (or eligible for inclusion).
  • MRCGP or equivalent qualification.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD).
  • Strong clinical diagnostic and management skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-working abilities.
  • Proficiency in using electronic patient record systems (e.g., Vision, EMIS Web).
  • Commitment to patient-centred care and shared decision-making.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Understanding of clinical governance and quality improvement principles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Higher degree or postgraduate qualification in a specific medical specialty relevant to primary care (e.g., Diploma in Dermatology, Diploma in Mental Health, FRCS, MRCP, MRCOG, MRCPCH).
  • Experience in delivering specialist clinics or enhanced services within a primary care setting.
  • Previous experience in medical education or teaching.
  • Leadership experience within a clinical setting.
  • Familiarity with local NHS Grampian health pathways and services.
